Abstract
Aims: To describe the process and outcomes of developing the Retrieval Services Queensland (RSQ) Research Strategy. The aim of the research was to develop a list of research priorities within prehospital and retrieval medicine and related services, to assist future project planning.
Methods: After obtaining ethics approval (HREC/2023/QTHS/100170), a modified Delphi approach was utilised to ensure the development of a consensus driven list of research priority themes for focusing RSQ’s research activity over a five year period. Two sequential surveys, administered using REDCap, across the four streams of service delivery governed by RSQ, were deployed. The first survey asked for research topics or questions that should be priorities for their stream. The second survey asked for prioritisation of the identified themes from survey one.
Results: Responses were obtained from all service streams with a consistent response rate across the two surveys. A summary of overarching research themes and implications of these themes will be presented.
Conclusions: The Research Strategy that was developed based on this consensus approach has assisted in the prioritisation of research activities and enabling tracking of research projects submitted to RSQ’s Research Committee. It is planned that this process will be repeated in 2028 to allow adjustment of priorities, as required.
