Jo Kippax

Dr Jorian (Jo) Kippax is a Retrieval Consultant with the Ambulance Tasmania Critical Care and Retrieval Service (AT-CCR), working primarily with the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) as well as a Trauma Specialist at the Royal Hobart Hospital. His areas of particular interest include resuscitation procedures education with the University of Tasmania, Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine, Environmental Medicine and Disaster Response.  Besides his day job, Jo is a reservist officer in the Australian Defence Force, is involved with international disaster relief AUSMAT (most recently returned from OP Myanmar Assist), TASPOL timeframe for survival estimates and the Australian Antarctic Programme medical retrieval team.

Jo was a keen expedition mountaineer claiming multiple Himalayan first ascents until his wife got fed up with it. Now he enjoys rock-climbing, sneaky mountaineering trips, white-water paddling, diving, and coastal trips in his traditionally rigged wooden sailing dinghy (or some hopelessly contrived combination of the above) while trying to keep his kids at least vaguely safe doing the same sort of stuff.
