The Royal Flying Doctor Service
The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world.
Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, the RFDS delivers extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to those who live, work and travel throughout Australia.
Operating from 23 aero-bases and 19 road service hubs located around the country, their waiting room covers 7.69 million square kilometres -- the largest in the world. They have 79 planes, 2 helicopters making them Australia’s 3rd largest airline, and their fleet also includes 183 healthcare vehicles and has contact with more than 1000 patients a day.
Traditionally known for their 24-hour aeromedical emergency services to country Australia, the Flying Doctor also does regular fly-in fly-out GP & Nursing and Allied Health Clinics to rural and remote communities. They have extensive tele-health consultation services, do inter-hospital transfers, and provide dental care, mental health and health education services across all states of Australia.

Our Aviation & Critical Services team deliver Search and Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, Disaster Response and law enforcement missions 24/7/365, for some of the hardest-to-reach communities, and in the most challenging conditions. Wenross Holdings Pty Ltd manufacture the now familiar Mansell Infant Retrieval
System, which is based around the NEOCOT.
Neocots are now used internationally and they form the definitive intensive-care infant retrieval system in Australia, performing nearly 300 retrievals-per-month nationally, of critically-ill infants in road ambulances, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft including Life Flight and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Another medical device available now from Wenross Holdings Pty Ltd is a back- transfer system called COSYPOD. This device is designed to provide a medium-care environment in which infants originally retrieved in the Neocot may be returned to their home hospitals and families as soon as the infant is well enough to travel. Cosypod has two infant capsules on the one stretcher and each of which can accommodate twins. Neocot and Cosypod both provide heated capsules for the infant, together with vital signs monitoring, syringe pumps, electric suction with on-board battery power and oxygen.
The latest Wenross Holdings Pty Ltd innovation is the integration of PHOTOTHERAPY within the Neocot capsule. Operating from batteries, treatment for jaundice is therefore continuous during the entire retrieval.
